Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s address for the Farewell Bell 2020 television programme during the Hello, Andrey show on Channel One, Moscow, May 30, 2020
I would like to congratulate all of you on your graduation.
School education is a vital, integral part of every person’s biography. I hope school was a second home for many of you. You have gained important knowledge and skills and learned a great deal about the world around you. School education has opened up new horizons for you and taught you to make independent decisions. And you have also made true and reliable friends. I have no doubt that all of this will come in useful in your lives.
This year the farewell bell sounded for you online because of the epidemic. But this has not diminished the importance of the event. I am sure that you will come together again more than once to warmly recall your wonderful school years, as the song goes.
You are going to have a very busy time now, sitting final exams and choosing a profession so as follow up on your interests, put your skills and abilities to good use, scale the loftiest heights and serve your Fatherland well. Go for it, never stop halfway, and you will succeed. Good luck, friends.
I would also like to congratulate the graduates of the Foreign Ministry schools abroad, who had to accompany their parents on their foreign missions and so received their graduation certificates away from their home country. I wish you, just as all your peers in Russia, success in the implementation of your plans and all the very best!
