Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Foreign Minister of Nicaragua Denis Moncada Colindres, Moscow, December 13, 2019
We would like to cordially welcome you to Moscow.
Our relations with Nicaragua are relations between good friends and strategic partners. I warmly recall my multiple trips to your country and my conversations with President of the Republic of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and with Laureano Ortega, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua for Cooperation with Russia.
Regular top-level and high-level contacts, as well as our entire political dialogue, make it possible to coordinate positions regarding our joint efforts on the international scene to defend international law, justice and democracy in global affairs.
Nicaragua and Russia are among the most active members of a group of countries firmly defending the principles of the UN Charter.
It goes without saying that we have a vast and packed bilateral agenda, including economic matters, humanitarian ties and those between our security services and agencies, as well as military and military-technical cooperation. Hopefully, we will discuss this in detail today.
We are very happy to see you, dear friends. Welcome.
