Question: Did you learn anything from Yevgeny Primakov? If so, what was it?

Sergey Lavrov: Nearly all that we know. I mean even those who met him as adults, professionally or otherwise, realised that this person was far above any average standards and many higher standards. He always got to the core of any matter and laid it out in a clear and simple way. He never used any highbrow phrases or style. He spoke in a very simple language about the most important things. He spoke in a way to make it clear to everyone that this was the truth, it had always been here, and he just opened our eyes to it.

I am very glad that so many people attended the unveiling ceremony for the monument to Yevgeny Primakov. The monument is beautiful, and will always remind the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Yevgeny Primakov laid the foundation for Russia’s modern foreign policy in the second half of the 1990s. And we are working, under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, to preserve it and, most importantly, to implement it.
