My dear Heiko,

We are glad to welcome you in Moscow. Our countries have a very active political dialogue. Our leaders, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel met in June on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Osaka. A month ago you kindly invited us to Bonn, where you and I took part in a meeting of the Petersburg Dialogue.

We are gaining useful experience holding cross years. The Year of Municipal and Regional Partnerships under our patronage has concluded. In addition, the Year of Scientific and Educational Partnership (2018–2020) is held with our support. This brings our nations closer and helps establish contacts between our people.

As always, we have a busy international agenda. There are many problems, issues and initiatives, and Russia and Germany together with other leading states can play an important, positive role in addressing and implementing them. I hope you and I will discuss all of this in detail today.
