Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during the meeting with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Pyongyang, May 31, 2018
President Vladimir Putin highly appreciates the kind words you said in your message of greetings on his election for a new presidential term. He conveys to you the warmest greetings and best wishes of success in the major undertakings that have now been initiated on the Korean Peninsula with your participation. We are interested in peace, stability and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia.
We enthusiastically welcomed the Panmunjom Declaration, which you signed with the President of the Republic of Korea. We are ready to assist in its implementation in every possible way, all the more so since it mentions railway projects that are to be carried out in the future with Russia’s participation.
We will be happy to see you in Russia.
