Comment by the Information and Press Department on the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting
On December 10, the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will hold a meeting via video conference. Uzbekistan holds the chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States this year.
The meeting participants will discuss a broad range of issues pertaining to integration interaction within the CIS with an emphasis on joint activities for overcoming the unfavourable effects of the spread of the novel coronavirus. Meeting participants will consider the updated draft of the Concept of CIS Development that determines the main areas for cooperation in the mid-term perspective, and adopt a plan for multilevel consultations between CIS foreign ministries for 2021.
The ministers will exchange views on current international and regional issues. They will focus on the central role of the United Nations in connection with its 75th anniversary, which is marked this year.
The participants will consider proposals on promoting cooperation in law enforcement, cultural and humanitarian, and other spheres.
A number of documents approved as a follow-up to the meeting will be included on the agenda of the Council of the CIS Heads of State meeting scheduled for December 18.
