Mikhail Kamynin, the Spokesman of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Answers a Russian Media Question Regarding "Kavkaz-Center" Web Site Broadcasting from the Territory of Sweden
Unofficial translation from Russian
Question: On October 14 an extremist-minded piece was published on the notorious site "Kavkaz-Center" about the October 13 terrorist attack on Nalchik. Since November 2004 the site has been broadcasting from the territory of Sweden. How could the Foreign Ministry comment upon this situation?
Answer: We consider it inadmissible when Sweden, well known for its democratic traditions and pledging its active involvement in the international antiterrorist coalition, gives shelter within its territory to such "mass media" as the site "Kavkaz-Center," which is openly inciting to violence and fomenting interethnic and interfaith strife. We have repeatedly drawn the Swedish side's attention to this issue.
Unfortunately, no specific steps to end the broadcasting of the "Kavkaz-Center" have been taken by the Swedish authorities so far. Such an approach, of course, does not help to strengthen counterterrorist cooperation, which requires the maximum unity of international community efforts. For our part we judge the sincerity of our partners in the antiterrorist struggle by their concrete deeds.
