Press release on the eighth meeting of the Russian-Sudanese High-Level Working Committee
Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Sudan A.Abdalla held the eighth meeting of the Russian-Sudanese High-Level Working Committee in Moscow on December 6.
The committee examined the entire range of issues related to promoting traditionally friendly Russian-Sudanese relations. The Russian side reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to continue to provide Sudan with comprehensive support in overcoming the challenges facing that country in transition. The sides stated Moscow and Khartoum’s commitment to building up mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment partnership, and discussed the preparations for and holding of the seventh meeting of the Russian-Sudanese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation scheduled to be held in Khartoum in early 2020.
During an in-depth exchange of views on the regional agenda, the participants focused on Darfur and intra-Sudan settlement, as well as crises in the Middle East and Africa. Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining a trust-based political dialogue and close coordination of Russia’s and Sudan’s foreign policy approaches at the UN and other international venues.
