On May 22, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Acting Governor of the Vologda Region Georgy Filimonov.

The meeting participants discussed topical issues of developing the region’s international ties and noted its leadership’s role in expanding contacts with foreign counties. It was stressed that holding various events with foreign representatives in the region increases their awareness of the export, industrial, investment, and tourism potential of the Vologda Region, as well as its diverse culture and nature.

The Foreign Ministry expressed its readiness to assist with implementing promising projects initiated by the regional administration and involving partners from neighbouring and far-abroad countries, aimed at constructive cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Focus will be placed on promoting international cooperation in the Vologda Region in such areas as the production of mechanical and electronic equipment, woodworking, supplies of agricultural products, and construction of transport and logistics facilities.
