On November 28, Moscow hosted Russian-Dutch political consultations involving Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko and Director-General for Political Affairs of the Netherlands Foreign Ministry Thijs van der Plas.
The parties discussed in detail the state of Russian-Dutch relations, which have deteriorated in recent years. The Russian side pointed out the counter-productiveness of the West’s policy of isolating and containing Russia. The steps to rectify the situation and to resume dialogue in spheres of common interest were considered.
Mr Grushko and Mr van der Plas also exchanged views on key international topics, regional problems and Russia’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
