Reply by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Lukashevich to the mass media’s question regarding the situation with Russian national Natalia Polyakova and her new-born children receiving medical treatment in Latvia
Question: How could you comment on the condition of the two Russian new-borns receiving medical treatment in Latvia together with their mother Russian national Natalia Polyakova?
Answer: The emergency situation with the prematurely born children of Russian national Natalia Vladimirovna Polyakova has been in the focus of the attention of the employees of the Russian Embassy in Riga ever since its very beginning.
As is common knowledge, after an unexpected labour on the 7 July she and her two children were hospitalised in the specialised children's hospital in Riga, where they are currently staying. There is an agreement that Natalia Polyakova and her children will stay in the clinic as long as they need to.
Birth certificates were immediately prepared for the new-borns in the Russian Embassy in Riga, and their Russian nationality was confirmed.
Currently, in the opinion of the Latvian doctors, the conditions of health of the children and their mother are stable. The employees of the Russian diplomatic mission are working on the issue of transportation of the new-borns and their mother together with the Russian Ministry of Health and the Emergencies Ministry. The doctors' opinion will certainly be determinative in the solution of this issue.
At the same time, the issue of the settlement of the financial aspects of the Russian nationals' stay in the Latvian hospital is also being solved.
