Recommendations from the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding travel to Egypt
PRESS RELEASE
The internal situation in Egypt has been stabilising recently. The state of emergency and the curfew have been rescinded. The Egyptian authorities are maintaining the required level of security and order of law in the resort areas along the coast of the Red Sea.
But the situation remains complicated in several regions of the area, including Cyprus and some other large cities: we see protest actions, and confrontations between demonstrators and security forces and police.
In light of the foregoing, we think that the current situation in the Arab Republic of Egypt does not prevent Russian nationals from visiting tourist regions of the Red Sea. However, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that caution be observed, and that no trips should be made outside resort areas (cities and regions), where there are risks of manifestations of terrorism and increased social tension.
