Comment by the Information and Press Department on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s working visit to France
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a working visit to France on November 11-12. He will take part in the 2nd Paris Peace Forum and tour the Russian programme’s stands.
Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian on the sidelines of the forum. The political dialogue is being gradually resumed with Moscow hosting a meeting of the Security Co-operation Council on September 9.
Sergey Lavrov and Jean-Yves Le Drian will discuss strategic stability and security in Europe, including in light of the terminated INF Treaty. A thorough exchange of views on the situation in Syria will take place, in particular in the context of the Constitutional Committee launched in Geneva on October 30 and the situation on the Turkey-Syria border, on preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear programme and prospects for reducing tensions in the Gulf region, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
The ministers will review ways to increase bilateral trade and investment and the implementation of joint projects with the participation of French companies Total and Engie in the gas industry, such as Nord Stream, Nord Stream-2, Yamal-LNG and Arctic LNG-2.
They will review preparations for a Russian cultural festival, Russian Seasons, in France in 2020 with over 270 events in 64 cities.
