Press release on Russian-Swiss anti-terror consultations
On May 17, Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov held a meeting in Moscow with Stephan Husy, Ambassador-at-Large for International Counter-Terrorism, Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
On the same day, Russian and Swiss officials held consultations on countering international terrorism, which were co-chaired by Mr Husy and Ilya Rogachev, Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department for New Challenges and Threats.
During these events the officials discussed current tasks and prospects of Russian-Swiss cooperation on counter-terrorism both in the bilateral format and at international venues, primarily the UN, but also the Council of Europe, the OSCE and the Global Counterterrorism Forum. Special attention was devoted to effective disruption of terrorist fighters’ materiel supplies and their ideological and recruitment policy, including efforts to counter the activities of foreign terrorist fighters.
