Press release on the 29th meeting of foreign and trade ministers of the APEC member-economies
On November 8, the 29th annual conference of foreign ministers and trade ministers of the member-economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was held in Da Nang (Vietnam). The forum was attended by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin.
The meeting was the concluding stage of the preparations for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 10-11. The participants focused on a number of issues, including promotion of sustainable, innovative and comprehensive growth, intensification of regional economic integration, liberalisation of international trade, buildup of human potential, primarily in small and medium-sized business, and consolidation of food security in conditions of climate change.
Russia paid special attention to aligning integration processes in the Asia-Pacific Region and Eurasia, developing common approaches to the emergence of digital economy in the region, and securitising development with an emphasis on the need to counter the threat of international terrorism.
The ministers adopted a joint statement based on the results of the conference.
