Russia’s position in reinforcing the legal grounds of world order
Meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the President of the Council of Ministers of Lebanon, Tammam Salam
On the 25 September, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, met the President of the Council of Ministers of the Lebanese Republic, Tammam Salam, on the side-lines of the 69th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During their talk Russia confirmed its support to sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Lebanon, a nation-wide dialogue between the leading political and sectarian forces in the country within a legal field for the purposes of resolving topical issues on the internal Lebanese agenda.
It was stated that the Russian and Lebanese approaches to the problems of confronting the threat of terrorism through observation of international law and respect for sovereignty of other state match or are close.
They touched upon some aspects of further development of the Russian-Lebanese trade and economic cooperation and the improvement of the multifaceted contractual legal framework and partnership, including the provision of assistance to Beirut in the reinforcement of the potential of Lebanese law enforcement agencies.
