Order of Friendship Presented to US Political Scientist Stephen Cohen

PRESS RELEASE

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on March 19 handed the Order of Friendship to prominent American political scientist, New York University Professor Stephen Frand Cohen. It was bestowed upon him by Decree of President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev No. 1699 of December 3, 2008.

At the formal ceremony held at the Russian MFA, Lavrov noted that Stephen Cohen, who has been teaching a special course on Soviet and Russian history and politics in US universities for over 40 years, has brought up more than one generation of international affairs specialists in the spirit of respect for our country and made an outstanding personal contribution to deepening knowledge about Russia in the United States and strengthening Russian-American contacts in academic and public circles.
