On January 23, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Losyukov received Richard Armitage, the US Deputy Secretary of State, who is in Moscow in connection with the holding of a regular meeting of the Russia-US Working Group on Counterterrorism.
The US side was informed of the results of the trip made by Losyukov as the special envoy of the Russian President to Pyongyang on January 18-21, in the course of which a thorough discussion with top North Korean leaders took place concerning ways to resolve the crisis on the Korean Peninsula, connected with, among other things, the DPRK's withdrawal from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
A constructive exchange of views on ways for a politico-diplomatic resolution of the situation on the Korean Peninsula took place.
