Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Meets with Avigdor Lieberman, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Israel

On September 24, a meeting between Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman took place in New York on the sidelines of the 64th General Assembly session.
During the conversation the Middle East situation and other regional and global problems were discussed. Issues relating to resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli negotiation process were concretely examined. Lavrov accentuated the importance of its early commencement on the existing international legal basis with a view to achieving a comprehensive and just Middle East settlement. He noted Russia's willingness together with the other Quartet members and all concerned parties to facilitate in every way the achievement of this goal, including holding a Moscow international conference on the Middle East.
Also, practical issues in Russian-Israeli relations were touched on, the intensive political dialogue was noted and the mutual striving to boost multifaceted ties was reaffirmed.
