Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov's meeting with Yemeni Socialist Party General Secretary Abdulraham Al-Saqqaf

On August 4, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov received General Secretary of the Yemeni Socialist Party Abdulraham Al-Saqqaf, who is in Moscow on a working visit.

The sides held a substantive exchange of opinions on important aspects concerning the development of the situation in the Republic of Yemen in light of the internal political conflict which is going on there and the critical situation in the social, economic and humanitarian spheres. Both officials agreed that a reliable and durable solution to the current Yemeni crisis can be possible only through renouncing armed confrontation and launching a broad national dialogue with due regard for the interests of all major political forces in the Republic of Yemen.

Mr Al-Saqqaf urged Russia to continue its efforts aimed at helping to overcome the intra-Yemeni contradictions through negotiations and easing the catastrophic situation that befell the country's population for which aircraft from the Russian Ministry of Emergencies supplied yet another batch of Russian humanitarian aid to Sanaa and Aden in July 2017.
