Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video message to the participants in InterVolga 2021 international forum
It is an honour and privilege for me to address the participants in InterVolga 2021 international forum. This year, it coincides with the 800th anniversary of the Volga Region’s capital.
Over the past decades, the Nizhny Novgorod Region has had a remarkable record of accomplishments in promoting cooperation with our foreign partners in various spheres, from trade and economic exchanges and industrial cooperation to launching joint projects in education and culture. It has achieved substantial momentum in developing relations with the EAEU and CIS countries, as well as China, India, Malaysia, Japan and Arab countries. Twin city ties have been established with almost two dozen foreign cities.
Your forum also contributes to these joint efforts. It has emerged as a useful and relevant platform for discussing topical matters pertaining to international cooperation. The success of this undertaking depends on a proactive contribution to the forum’s work by federal and regional officials, the diplomatic corps, academia, experts and civil society.
It is satisfying to note that the topics to be discussed by the participants in this gathering are highly relevant. A wide range of matters are on your agenda, from efforts by the Russian regions to expand their foreign economic relations to strengthening cooperation among universities. I cannot fail to highlight the presentation of the School for Nizhny Novgorod Region’s Young Diplomats project, which is also on your agenda.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our foreign partners for their participation in this forum. I believe that through their presence they are making a very timely contribution to promoting friendship and trust in the relations between our countries and peoples.
I strongly believe that this conference will establish itself as a major research and practice event that will further strengthen Nizhny Novgorod Region’s international ties.
I wish all the participants successful and fruitful work and all the best.
