Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin’s telephone conversation with Vice Foreign Minister of China Ma Zhaoxu
On July 7, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin spoke by telephone with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Ma Zhaoxu.
The officials discussed issues related to continuing and promoting the two countries’ cooperation on subjects of mutual interest at leading global venues, in particular, New York and Geneva.
They focused on the coordination of bilateral approaches due to the developments in Syria and Yemen as well as measures to counter the spread of the coronavirus infection with the coordinating role of the World Health Organisation.
They shared the opinion that it was necessary to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all UN member states, that the politicisation of humanitarian problems was inadmissible whereas unilateral economic sanctions were unacceptable, especially during the pandemic.
