Press release on Russian-British consultations on Syria
On November 15, Special Presidential Representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held consultations with David Quarrey, the Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser and Deputy National Security Adviser.
The officials held an extensive exchange of views on problems in Syria and issues in the Middle East that are on the UN Security Council’s agenda. They reviewed in detail the situation “on the ground” in Syria, primarily in the northeast and in the Idlib de-escalation zone. They also discussed the status of a political settlement in connection with the initiation of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva and the need for comprehensive humanitarian assistance for all Syrians throughout the country.
