Mr. Minister, my dear friend,

We are happy to welcome you in Moscow. We understand the urgent nature of your visit. As I understand, you are visiting a number of capitals. We greatly appreciate that in this time of trouble you found it possible to travel to Moscow to share your assessment of the developments.

Russia’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity is unwavering. We are interested in seeing a secure Lebanon with all branches of government and all state agencies functioning effectively. Most important, we support the resolution of all urgent issues by the Lebanese themselves without outside interference, through dialogue within the legal framework, and with due account of the interests of all political forces and ethnic and religious groups.

I have no doubts that at the present stage the Lebanese will be able to agree on a solution that would meet the main interests of preserving stability, civic peace and security in Lebanon and the whole region.
