  • en-GB1 ru-RU1

Tensions have been rising on the Lebanese-Israeli border in recent days. According to media reports, several rockets were fired from Lebanese territory, with the Israeli army responding with artillery fire. There are no casualty reports.

According to available information,  the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command claimed responsibility for the attacks,  accusing the Israelis of  delivering airstrikes against the Damascus suburb of Jaramana the day before.

Moscow   is seriously concerned over these developments. The aggravation of the situation, including in the Lebanese-Israeli border area, is fraught with the risk of  further deterioration of the overall situation in the Middle East.

In this context, Russia calls on all parties involved to display restraint. In keeping with the existing international obligations, it is imperative to observe a ceasefire on the Lebanese-Israeli border.
