3rd Eurasian Women’s Forum
The 3rd Eurasian Women’s Forum will take place in St. Petersburg on 13–15 October 2021. The event is being organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Held regularly since 2015, the Forum is a major international platform bringing together women leaders from every continent to discuss the role of women in the modern world and develop shared solutions to global problems.
The 2nd Eurasian Women’s Forum, which took place on 20–21 September 2018, welcomed participants from 110 countries and 27 international organizations and gave a huge boost to the new women’s agenda and the expansion of international cooperation.
The theme of the 3rd Eurasian Women’s Forum, Women: A Global Mission in a New Reality, is especially relevant in the light of the challenges the world is currently facing.
The United Nations has named this year the International Year of Peace and Trust, and the 3rd Eurasian Women’s Forum will help to strengthen mutual understanding and trust, consolidate the efforts of the global women's community to ensure peace and sustainable development, and overcome current challenges and threats.
The key discussions at the Forum will cover the global women’s mission to build a stable and secure future by way of safeguarding public health, driving social transformation, developing the economy and advancing the digital transition, and protecting the environment.
A key part of the Forum programme will once again be devoted to sessions with international organizations and associations. These include a visiting session of the Women20, a session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a session with the World Bank, a meeting of the BRIСS Women’s Business Alliance and a meeting of an international club of regional women leaders. A meeting of the international club of winners and participants of the APEC BEST AWARD and a session of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency international working group on improving the gender balance in the nuclear sector will take place on the sidelines of the Forum for the first time.
A number of bilateral meetings with representatives of the international women's business community will be held in order to expand women's cooperation internationally and identify new areas of international cooperation.
Exhibitions and interactive areas showcasing women’s achievements in science and technology, the development of the creative industries, and innovative approaches to solving social problems will be organized on the sidelines of the Forum.
The Forum will be attended by women parliamentarians, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, global corporations, business leaders, the scientific community, non-profit organizations and heads of charitable projects, and leading figures in the international women’s movement.
Traditionally, the Forum will host the summing up and awarding the Eurasian Women’s Forum “Public Recognition” to outstanding women for their achievements in various fields and contribution to the sustainable development of society.
The Forum will be held in a face-to-face format with digital participation through video conferencing and online broadcasts.
In addition to the official programme, participants will be able to participate in cultural programme events. Visitors with participant badges will be able to visit museums, palaces and exhibitions in St. Petersburg, including the Hermitage, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Russian Museum and Yusupov Palace. An opera and ballet gala concert will be held for all participants on the first day of the Forum at the historical stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
