On March 31, a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Jan Peter Balkenende, took place on the sidelines of the Hague Conference on Afghanistan. A number of topical issues in Russian-Dutch bilateral relations were discussed, including a schedule of political contacts in 2009.
