Greetings from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the organisers, participants and guests of the 5th International Alumni Forum of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO)
A very warm welcome to the organisers and guests of the 5th International Alumni Forum of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in Tashkent. First of all, I would like to express my deep appreciation to the leaders of Uzbekistan for their assistance in organising this event.
Regular alumni meetings indicate that the MGIMO fellowship is ironclad. Host countries and cities change but your commitment to student friendships and strong determination to maintain fruitful and truly comradely dialogue are unfailing.
This year we celebrate our Alma Mater’s 75th anniversary. And there are things to be proud of. MGIMO is a major education and research centre that continues to dynamically move forward, implementing new programmes and expanding training fields. The opening of the first foreign branch in Tashkent is one vivid example. I would like to particularly note the university’s contribution to promoting international humanitarian and scientific cooperation and increasing the potential of public diplomacy.
I am confident that this forum will enjoy a cordial and informal atmosphere, while its packed agenda will allow for in-depth discussions on many key subjects and facilitate the development of inter-state cooperation, strengthening trust and mutual understanding between nations.
I would like to wish you every success in your work, new achievements and all the very best.
