PRESS RELEASE

On November 19 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Losyukov gave a luncheon in honor of Geoff Ward, the Ambassador of New Zealand to Moscow, in connection with the completion of his mission in our country.

During the talk, the sides exchanged views on questions pertaining to bilateral relations, including the possibilities for expanding trade and economic cooperation. They expressed satisfaction with the onward development of the Russian-New Zealand political dialogue, to which the visit to Moscow in April 2001 of New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Philip Goff had given a new impetus. The sides gave a positive assessment to the results of the recent bilateral political consultations, which have created some additional conditions for effective cooperation of the two countries in the international arena.

Alexander Losyukov wished Geoff Ward success in his further activity.
