Mr Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian,

We are glad to see you in Moscow. We are meeting for the third time in one quarter; this means we have not only common interests, but also a willingness to discuss them.

We are pleased to note that your delegation includes Ms Sylvie Bermann, the new Ambassador of France to the Russian Federation. As I understand it, she has already had meetings at the Foreign Ministry; she met with Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov, who will soon leave for his new post. Ms Bermann previously worked in our country, back in Soviet times, but I think this experience will still come in handy. In any case, we will do our best to help the French Embassy to effectively work on implementing the agreements reached by our presidents, primarily those signed on May 29 in Versailles.

I suggest today we discuss how we are progressing on our bilateral agenda and exchange views on crisis situations and international assistance for resolving the conflicts in Syria, Libya, Ukraine and other regions; unfortunately, their number is anything but decreasing.

We have a lot of work to do, and I look forward to having a constructive discussion.

Welcome again!
