Your Excellency Foreign Minister, Friends,

We are glad to welcome you to this regular meeting between the   foreign ministers of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran. We highly value our good neighbourly and friendly relations. Russia and Iran have established constructive cooperation in almost all areas of bilateral relations, as well as in international affairs. We are engaged in intensive dialogue at the top and high levels. Our two ministries continue to work more closely within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation for 2015-2018. Today, we have every opportunity to take Russian-Iranian relations to a new level by enhancing them in the spirit of the agreements made by the presidents of Russia and Iran, and taking into account the decisions regarding the issue of the Iranian nuclear programme settlement.

Of course, Russia is interested in stepping up cooperation with Iran in order to facilitate the settlement of various crises in the Middle East and North Africa. We strongly believe that the involvement of our countries will yield results that would serve the interests of the people across this vast region.
