Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the heads of large Malaysian corporations in Kuala Lumpur on August 5.

They exchanged opinions on issues of cooperation with Malaysia and other ASEAN countries amidst persisting turbulence in the global economy. They unanimously confirmed the significance of the business community for the development of trade and investment cooperation between Russia and the ten ASEAN states and the implementation of large joint projects in the fields of transport, infrastructure and energy. They noted, in particular, the role of the Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia in promoting bilateral economic relations.

The participants recognised the advisability of utilising various regional and international platforms for establishing contacts between business people, including the first Eastern Economic Forum to be held in Vladivostok in September.
