Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault
On April 4, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by phone with French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault at the latter’s initiative.
Mr Ayrault expressed his condolences over the St Petersburg Metro bombing on April 3. He also assured that France, a country that has been repeatedly targeted by terrorists, feels solidarity with the families and friends of those killed in this barbaric attack.
Mr Lavrov thanked Mr Ayrault for the words of support and expressed hope for closer Russian-French cooperation, including on security.
The ministers discussed the ongoing efforts in the Normandy format toward the fulfilment of the Minsk agreements, and exchanged views on the situation in Syria in the context of corresponding UN Security Council resolutions that are being implemented.
