Statement by Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Rashid Alimov on behalf of the SCO on the act of terror that led to the death of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov

  • en-GB1 ru-RU1

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) strongly denounces the heinous assassination of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey Andrey Karlov. This terrorist act does not and cannot have any justification.

The uncompromising struggle against international terrorism in all of its manifestations has invariably been at the top of the SCO’s list of priorities. The SCO will continue relentlessly fighting terrorism in close cooperation with the world community until it is fully eradicated. We are confident that the perpetrators of this crime will be caught and subjected to the severe punishment they deserve.

We convey our deep condolences and sincere support to the family and friends of Mr Karlov.
