    Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’ meeting with the expanded CELAC Quartet of foreign ministers, Sochi, November 14, 2016

    On November 14, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet with the foreign ministers of the expanded Quartet of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC): the Dominican Republic (CELAC President) – Miguel Vargas, the Commonwealth of Dominica – Francine Baron, the Republic of Ecuador – Guillaume Long, the Republic of El Salvador – Hugo Martinez and Special Representative of the Republic of Nicaragua Siddhartha Marin. The meeting (at Rus holiday hotel, 22 Politekhnicheskaya St., Sochi) will be followed by a joint news conference. After a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister of Ecuador Long, Russian-Ecuadorian documents will be signed.

    Meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Sochi

    STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS

     

    On July 1, the final event of the Russian Chairmanship in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC)  –  Meeting of Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization (BSEC CMFA) chaired by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be held in Sochi at the resort-hotel “Rus”. The Ministers will summarize the BSEC’s activity in the period of January – June 2016. They also will sign joint documents. The ceremony of transfer of the BSEC Chairmanship from Russia to Serbia and the joint press conference of BSEC Permanent International Secretariat Secretary General and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of “BSEC Troika” countries (Romania, Russia and Serbia) will be held.

    On June 29, on the sidelines of the preparatory events Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vassily Nebenzya, Secretary General Mikhael Christides and others will take part in the BSEC bike tour from Olympic Park to “Roza Khutor” Alpine Resort.

    Russian and foreign media are invited to cover the event. The detailed program of the meeting will be forwarded to the accredited media accordingly.

    Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council (MAC-2016)

    Today, February 17, the Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council (MAC-2016) is to open its work at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University).

    The conference – devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Arctic Council - is held by the MGIMO University and the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy (MIEP) MGIMO on February 17-19, 2016.

    MAC-2016 is arranged by the MIEP MGIMO Arctic Student Research Club with financial support granted by the Russian Federal Agency on Youth Affairs and the MGIMO Endowment Foundation.

    The Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council expects distinguished experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the Russian Council for International Affairs, the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway etc.

    The list of participants includes students of more than 20 Russian universities, as well as young citizens of Canada, the USA, Norway, Denmark and Finland. They all are engaged and interested in various Arctic region issues in the field of International Relations and Law, Social and Economic Development, Environment and profound studies of  regional energy resources development.
