Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at talks with Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic, Moscow, September 29, 2017
We are glad to have this opportunity to meet with you. We are satisfied with our relations, which are improving in all areas. Our presidents maintain regular contacts, and the trust-based dialogue they have developed is helping us to promote our cooperation in all areas.
Several days ago now, I had a meeting with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic in New York. He confirmed all the agreements that have been reached at summit level, and we pointed out that they are being implemented.
Today we will be holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which you co-chair on behalf of Serbia. The commission has been very productive, as evidenced by the sustainable growth of our bilateral trade. Next week, we will convene the Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Technical Cooperation in Tula. We expect the speaker of the Serbian Parliament to attend a regular meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council in St Petersburg in early October.
The foreign ministry personnel maintain regular contacts. We cooperate closely at the UN and vote unanimously for the most important General Assembly resolutions. In other words, everything goes well between us. Today we will see what else should be done.
Welcome to Moscow.
Next year we will mark several important dates related to WWII battles, which we will celebrate together.
