Russian-Indian student conference
A Russian-Indian student conference, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of India, with the support of the Russian Centre of Science and culture in New Delhi and RusEducation company, took place in the “Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra” concert hall in New Delhi on December 18, in the year of the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.
The event saw participation of the Russian Embassy officials, representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs and other governmental agencies, public figures and politicians, activists of friendship societies, graduates of Russian institutes, compatriots, future and present students and masters as well as their parents. Students and professors from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Volgograd, Kazan, Makhachkala, Moscow, Orel, Perm, Stavropol, Tver, and Ulyanovsk joined the event through a videoconference.
“The today’s conference on our bilateral cooperation in education enjoys a truly congenial atmosphere”, noted G.V.Srinivas, Joint Secretary of the Eurasia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. “This is a unique opportunity to share experience, discuss all vital issues and find ways to tackle them”. Speaking about new prospects for education cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi, H.E. Mr Nikolay Kudashev, Ambassador of Russia in India, singled out such projects as the BRICS Net University, the SCO University, the possibility of transforming the city of Kudankulam, where the national largest nuclear power plant is being constructed with the Russian assistance, into a “smart city”.The participants of the conference discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including facilitation of the visa regime for promoting exchange of students and academic staff, issues of mutual recognition of diplomas and linguistic training certificates for students, departing to study in Russia.
