Press release on signing the protocol on amendments to the attachment to the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Facilitation of Mutual Travel for Border Area Residents of Russia and Norway

First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov and Norwegian Ambassador to Russia Leidulv Atle Namtvedt met in Moscow on January 20 to sign a protocol on the amendments to the attachment to the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Facilitation of Mutual Travel for Border Area Residents of Russia and Norway, which included the whole Norwegian village of Neiden in the agreement.

Thereby, the protocol on the amendments will extend the areas of facilitated mutual travel for border area residents. Importantly, the documents will ensure visa-free visits for Russians living in border areas to memorable places in northern Norway, which the Red Army liberated from Nazi occupation in 1944.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed prospects of Russian-Norwegian relations and practical cooperation in major areas, as well as contacts at regional levels in northern Europe and in the Arctic, and current international issues.
