Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov's meeting with Foreign Minister of the Interim Government of Libya Mohammed al-Dairi
On September 7, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov met with Foreign Minister of the Interim Government of Libya Mohammed al-Dairi who is in Moscow on a working visit.
The conversation was mainly focused on the unfolding situation in Libya and the prospects for an inter-Libyan settlement, including in view of the results of the July 25 meeting outside Paris between Head of the Presidential Council and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Fayez al-Sarraj and Commander of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Khaftar.
The Russian side emphasised the importance of establishing a durable inclusive national dialogue in order to bring the country out of its lengthy crisis. Moscow also confirmed its readiness to actively contribute to the successful advancement of the political process in its contacts with representatives of different political forces of Libya.
Some practical aspects in Russia-Libya relations were also discussed, such as maintaining the regular political dialogue on issues of mutual interest.
