Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with Co-Chairperson of the Mixed Russian-Israeli Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Israeli Minister of Environmental Protection and Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin
On September 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met at the Foreign Ministry with Co-Chairperson of the Mixed Russian-Israeli Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation (Mixed Intergovernmental Commission), Israeli Minister of Environmental Protection and Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin, who is currently in Moscow to take part in the 14th meeting of the commission.
The two officials noted that Russian-Israeli trade and economic ties, which substantially contribute to expanding bilateral relations in all areas, are making steady progress. They stressed that it was important that Russia and Israel continue coordinating their efforts to oppose attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War and glorify Nazi collaborators.
The ministers also discussed key regional issues with an emphasis on the problems associated with the uncompromising fight against terrorism, as well as prospects for an Israeli-Palestinian settlement and the issues of a peaceful solution to the Syria crisis and other conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa in compliance with the principles of international law.
