Comment by the Information and Press Department on the situation in Burkina Faso
According to media reports, the situation in Burkina Faso remains tense as a consequence of protests staged by opposition forces disputing changes in the election law. There are disruptions of law and order, including occupation by protesters of a number of government facilities in Ouagadougou and other cities.
According to information from the Russian Embassy in Cote d'Ivoire, which also represents Russia's interests in Burkina Faso, there have been no victims among Russian citizens.
We continue to closely follow the developments in this African country. We believe that domestic political issues should be solved within legal framework. We hope that all public and political forces in Burkina Faso will display restraint and political responsibility.
