Comment by the Information and Press Department on the opening of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Kabul


In connection with the 19 September, 2017 article in the newspaper Izvestia regarding the Russian Centre for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Kabul, we would like to say that Moscow is interested in the Centre opening as soon as possible. The Centre is intended to become a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The exact dates of the full opening of the Centre, as well as the planned level of the Russian and Afghan delegations at the RCSC official opening ceremony, have not yet been determined and will be worked out, as will the physical security of the Centre.

Recently, the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Kabul has made significant efforts to improve the security he atione to in the newspaper "level of the RCSC. The issues which emerged in June of this year in relation to attempts by the Afghan side to dismantle the protective structures around the RCSC complex have been resolved. At this stage, Afghan law enforcement agencies have strengthened the physical security of the complex and doubled the number of 24-hour posts around the perimeter.
