Comment by a Foreign Ministry spokesperson on statements made by Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite
As is known, in a recent interview with Lithuanian news site Delfi, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite spoke about the pressure she allegedly experienced during a meeting with Vladimir Putin in February 2010 in Helsinki, which came in the form of a “list of demands that Lithuania must meet”.
We have already said that it is not true. Moreover, we immediately offered to disclose the record of this meeting, which will refute the Lithuanian insinuations. We have received no response from Vilnius. However, this is understandable.
Such provocative statements that are totally divorced from the facts do not reflect well on the Lithuanian leadership. It is a mistake to resort to obvious falsification to elevate oneself.
