Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
Participation of Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia in the APEC Senior Officials meeting
18-19 February saw the senior officials' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Moscow under the chairmanship of I. Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a set of issues associated with the activities of APEC in 2012 in the context of the priorities proposed by Russia – trade and investment liberalization and regional economic integration, enhanced food security, formation of reliable transport and logistics chains and intense interaction to facilitate the innovative growth.
The partners supported a number of Russian initiatives, including the introduction of innovative agricultural technologies, creation of emergency response centres in the region, and setup of the cross-border educational area.
The unanimous disposition was confirmed to actively work together in order to provide substantive content of the APEC summit in September in Vladivostok which will be the climax of Russia's presidency in the forum.
I. Morgulov also held separate meetings with the heads of the delegations of Brunei, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States, during which issues of bilateral cooperation in APEC were discussed.
