About participation of Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, I.V. Morgulov in the second meeting of APEC Senior Officials
June 2-3 in Kazan the second meeting of Senior Officials Forum «Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation» (APEC) chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, I.V. Morgulov held.
At the meeting it was continued the consideration of specific initiatives in the development of proposed by Russia priorities in the Forum 2012 – trade and investment liberalization and regional economic integration, strengthening of food security, the formation of reliable transport and logistic chains and intensive interaction to provide innovative growth.
APEC economies approved a Russian proposal to ensure transparency and information disclosure when concluding agreements on free trade as an issue of fundamental importance for trade, but not included in the agenda of WTO. The participants of the meeting have also discussed the final declaration draft of the Meeting of Trade Ministers (Kazan, June 4-5).
The Senior Officials of the Forum welcomed the Kazan declaration on food security, adopted on the results of the profile APEC Ministerial Meeting (Kazan, May 30-31). The participants expressed belief that this declaration will contribute to the implementation of the purposes stated in it including attraction of investments and innovative technologies in the agriculture, access to food supplies for vulnerable social groups, combating illegal production of marine resources.
The Russian initiatives on a wide introduction of modern technologies on the routes of goods supply and diversification of logistics chains, as well as the establishment in the APEC region the network of centers for crisis management received fundamental support.
In the framework of the innovative block efficient discussions on the Russian proposals about the development of transboundary cooperation in the field of higher education in the APEC region, as well as formation of political partnership on innovations in the framework of forum with participation of representatives of government and business took place. APEC economies expressed full support for the pilot technological innovation dialogue on the use of nanotechnology to ensure energy efficiency, which took place in Kazan.
The participants confirmed unanimous attitude to the active teamwork for further substantive content of the meeting of APEC leaders in September in Vladivostok, which is going to be the culmination of Russia's presidency in forum.
