In connection with the articles in a number of mass-media on the composition of the trip of Russian volunteers to Japan who contributed to the work of the APEC Summit in Vladivostok we would like to say the following.

The trip succeeded according to the agreement achieved by the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin and the Prime Minister of Japan Y. Noda during the meeting in terms of the APEC Summit in Vladivostok on 8 September this year.

The group of 508 people arrived to Japan on board of MS Legend of the Seas on 13 September. It particularly included more that 460 students of Moscow State University, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service, volunteers of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and also performing artists of the FEFU Students' Centre, who provided the cultural programme of the Summit. The volunteers were accompanied by the lecturers of FEFU (approximately 1 person per 50 students) and four representatives of Administration of Primorsky Krai (head of the delegation - Vice-Governor I.V. Vasil'kova who is responsible for education, Head of Krai Department for Youth Affairs and two of his deputies). Among all participants of the trip there were only 58 people in the age of 25 and more.

At the arrival of Volunteers to Yokohama took place the solemn welcome ceremony with participation of the city mayor F. Hayashi, the Ambassador of Russia to Japan Ye.V. Afanasiev, deputies of Parliament and students of local universities. The participants of the trip had a sightseeing tour around Yokohama and Tokyo, which included the visiting of viewing platforms, temple complexes, Tokyo Tower and entertainment centres. They returned back home on the same day in the evening.

We would like to express sincere gratitude to all Russian volunteers for their help during the APEC Summit in Vladivostok.
