Press release on the 22nd session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Border Commission
On June 4-6, Moscow hosted the 22nd session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Border Commission.
The sides reviewed a number of issues regarding the implementation of the Agreement signed by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the Russia-China state border regime of November 9, 2006.
They noted that a favourable atmosphere near the border, supporting which is the key priority of the Joint Commission’s work, is making a positive contribution to the stable development of Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive trust-based partnership and strategic cooperation.
Both sides praised the level of cooperation between the two counties’ competent agencies in maintaining law and order in the border regions, monitoring the border regime and the smooth operation of border checkpoints, as well as interoperability when it comes to the construction of trans-border infrastructure.
They exchanged views on cooperation in using transboundary waters, including water management and bank protection along the border rivers.
The commission members also reviewed the drafting of a number of intergovernmental agreements on trans-border facilities and exports between the two countries.
The session was held in a friendly atmosphere, which is traditional for Russian-Chinese relations.
