Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s meeting with the UAE leadership
On April 13, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, who was in Abu Dhabi on a working visit, met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, UAE National Security Adviser Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security Ali Al-Shamsi.
The UAE leaders praised the relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and the United Arab Emirates. They also confirmed the UAE’s resolve to maintain a regular and trust-based political dialogue with Moscow and to build up multifaceted bilateral cooperation in trade, the economic, energy, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
During an in-depth discussion on a broad range of matters related to regional and international affairs, the parties focused on the developments in Syria, Libya, Yemen, the Persian Gulf and the Palestinian territories. They reaffirmed the firm belief of Russia and the UAE regarding the absence of any alternative to the political and diplomatic settlement of conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa based on an inclusive national dialogue in strict compliance with the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter. They also highlighted the importance of consolidated international efforts to resolutely and effectively fight international terrorism and extremism.
