Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov’s meeting with a delegation of the National Defence College of the United Arab Emirates
On March 12, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received a delegation of the National Defense College of the United Arab Emirates that was on a fact-finding visit in Moscow.
The meeting was also attended by UAE Ambassador to Russia Maadhad Hareb Al Khaili. The Russian official described in detail the principled approaches to the evolving situations in the Middle East and North Africa, laying emphasis on the need to settle the persisting crises by political and diplomatic means, via a broad national dialogue and in strict compliance with the norms of international law. In this context, special attention was devoted to the situation in Syria, Yemen, the Persian Gulf area, and prospects for Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
The parties also held an earnest discussion of current issues related to the further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations, including the maintenance of trust-based political dialogue and an increase in mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, humanitarian, and other areas.
