Press release on presidential election in Liberia
On December 26, the second round of the presidential election took place in Liberia. According to preliminary data provided by the National Election Commission, the winner is George Weah, the leader of the Congress for Democratic Change, for whom the majority of electorate voted. Official results of the voting will be announced soon.
According to foreign and Liberian observers, the election was held in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. No serious violations that could affect the expression of Liberian citizens’ will were detected.
